of the engagement with a free passage back to
England for himself and for his wife and children
not exceeding four persons besides himself provided
that they were att provided with passages to the
Colony under this Agreement and provided that he
claims and avails himself of such return passages
within ona month from the date of such termination.
The Government and/or the Crown Agents will
appoint a staff of such Assistant Engineers
Inspectors and such other staff as may in the
opinion of the Engineers be required to assist the
Resident Engineer in the carrying out of his duties
in connection with the said works of water supply and
all such staff shall be under the direction and
supervision of the Resident Engineer.
The Resident Engineer shall so long as he shall
continue in the service of the Government reside in
quarters to be provided by the Government and at the
expense of the Government at such place as may be
directed by the Engineers or in lieu thereof the
Government shall pay to him an allowance of Two Hundred
and fifty dollars a month.
Such heavy furniture as
may be provided by the Government shall be maintained
at the expense of the Resident Engineer and he shall
be responsible to the Government for breakages damage
and loss of such furniture as they may provide and
shall make good or pay for such loss.
The Resident Engineer shall at all times obey and
comply with the commands and directions of the
Engineers whether conveyed to him direct or through
the Government and shall perform and exercise all such
